The Sonel EVSE-100 is an all-in-one analyser for testing AC electric vehicle charging stations and charging cables. It simulates a connected vehicle, runs the electrical safety tests, checks the charger’s control signals and produces a professional test report from a single instrument.
For Electricians installing and commissioning EV chargers Charging station operators and maintenance teams Test and inspection companies Service technicians testing portable chargers and Type 2 charging cables
Test an EV charger properly without needing a car. The EVSE-100 imitates a vehicle so it can take a charging station through its normal operating states. You can check that the charger behaves correctly and run the electrical safety tests all in one visit, then produce a professional report for your records or your customer.
What it tests
AC EV charging stations with a Type 2 connector, either socketed or with a fixed cable (single and three phase)
Portable EV chargers with a Type 2 connector (single and three phase)
EV charging cables
Simulate the vehicle
The analyser mimics the signals a car sends to a charger, so the station can be tested without a vehicle present.
Cable rating (PP circuit): simulates no cable, or 13 A, 20 A, 32 A, 63 A and 80 A cables
Vehicle states (CP circuit):
State A, vehicle not connected
State B, connected but not charging
State C, charging without ventilation
State D, charging with ventilation
Electrical safety measurements
Fault loop impedance
RCD testing for AC, A and B types, plus 6 mA DC protection
Insulation resistance
Continuity of protective conductors and EV cable wires
Earth resistance
Phase sequence indication
Coding resistor (RC) resistance
Diagnose the charger
Read the CP voltage levels, PWM frequency and duty cycle
See the maximum charging current the station offers
View the signal data on a graph
Measure the transition times between states, along with the on and off times
Fault simulation
Check that the station reacts safely when things go wrong. The EVSE-100 can simulate:
A short between CP and PE
A shorted diode
A break in the PE conductor
Interrupted phase or neutral lines
Swapped phase and earth wires
Voltage on the PE conductor
Reporting and data
The EVSE-100 works with the Sonel MeasureEffect platform, which stores your results, manages your data and builds your test reports. Optional accessories include a barcode scanner and label printers for tagging and documenting chargers.
