PAT Device Calibration

Accurate results start with a calibrated instrument. NZ-wide service from our calibration lab.

Metrel DeltaPAT Calibration

The Metrel DeltaPAT is a capable and popular tester, but like any precision instrument it needs regular calibration to ensure results stay accurate. Whether you bought your DeltaPAT from us or elsewhere, our centrally located calibration lab is set up to handle it.

We also calibrate the full Metrel range and other brands including the other popular brands such as Sonel, Seaward and Meggar.

Got a Metrel DeltaPAT 3309 BT? We offer affordable calibration for the DeltaPAT — one of the most widely used PAT testers in New Zealand. Send it to us from anywhere in the country and we’ll have it checked, serviced, and back to you fast.

Why Calibration Matters

Your PAT tester is only as reliable as its last calibration. Over time, components drift and readings can shift — meaning a “pass” result may not truly be a pass. Regular calibration ensures your test results remain accurate, your compliance with AS/NZS 3760:2022 is maintained, and the people relying on tested equipment stay safe.

As stated in the Standard (Appendix A, A6): “The verification should be carried out against a calibrated source” and “it is recommend that calibration is carried out within the timeframe specified in the manufactures instructions”

Most manufacturers recommend annual calibration, but if your tester is in heavy daily use — doing hundreds of tests per week — you may want to consider every six months. For lightly used testers, 18 months may be appropriate.

What’s Involved in a Calibration

A PAT tester has many test functions — earth continuity, insulation resistance, leakage current, RCD trip times — each with different ranges, outputs, and tolerances. Calibration involves checking every function against our reference-grade instruments to confirm the tester is reading within specification.

Where possible, if a tester’s readings have drifted outside tolerance, our technicians will carry out adjustments to bring it back into specification. We keep the necessary reference equipment and procedures on hand to support this for the testers we work with most.

If your tester has an issue that can’t be resolved through calibration, we’ll let you know what’s going on and provide a quote for any further work before proceeding.

MedCal — Calibration + Health Check

Since your tester is already with us for calibration, it makes sense to give it a full health check at the same time. We call this a MedCal — a medical and calibration combined.

Our technicians will open the unit, clean it out, check for signs of trouble such as loose fittings or overheating, verify the internal battery voltage, and service the printer (including the cutter, if fitted). If we find a problem, we’ll fix minor issues on the spot or contact you with a quote for anything more involved.

A MedCal typically adds just $45–$90 + GST on top of the calibration fee — a small price for preventative maintenance that helps you avoid breakdowns at the worst possible time.
