The Sonel LKZ-2500 is a complete cable and underground utility locating system. It finds buried power, telecom, water, gas and heating services, traces their route and logs it with GPS, so you can excavate safely and avoid expensive strikes. The control panel is included, so it’s ready to use out of the box.

Sonel LKZ-2500 Cable and Underground Utility Locator
Find it before you hit it. The LKZ-2500 is a complete locating system for tracing buried services, mapping their routes and keeping a record of what you found. It includes the control panel, so you have everything you need in one kit.
How it works
The LKN-2500 transmitter sends a tracing signal into a buried cable or pipe. The LKD-2500 detector picks that signal up as you walk above the line. Compass readings and signal strength show you where the service runs, and the Sonel LKZ Mobile app displays it all live on screen.
What it can locate
Power, control and telecommunications cables
Earthing and lightning protection conductors
Cathodic protection systems
Water and sewer pipework
Gas and fuel pipelines
Heating systems and pre-insulated pipes
Three ways to put a signal on the line
Direct (galvanic): connect the supplied leads and clips straight to the conductor.
Clamp: place an optional transmitting clamp around a live or in-service cable without disconnecting it.
Inductive: use the transmitter’s built-in antenna and induce the signal from above ground, with no physical connection.
Active and passive modes
Active mode (with the transmitter) operates at 8 kHz and 32 kHz.
Passive mode (detector only) detects 50/60 Hz mains signals and radio signals from 2 to 65 kHz, which makes it a quick way to survey an area before you set up the transmitter.
Record, review and share
The Sonel LKZ Mobile app records the route you trace, along with GPS waypoints and readings. You can add notes at any point, merge routes, check the distance to a waypoint and review everything you’ve logged. Routes export to other phones, so colleagues can open them without owning an LKZ kit.
