Know what’s underground before you dig. The LKZ-2500 Start is a two-part locating kit that finds buried services, follows their route and records the path, so you can plan excavations with confidence and avoid damaging live infrastructure.
How it works
The kit pairs the LKN-2500 transmitter with the LKD-2500 detector. The transmitter puts a tracing signal onto the buried service. You walk the route with the detector, which picks up the signal and shows its direction and strength. The detector connects to the Sonel LKZ Mobile app on your phone, so you can follow the compass reading and signal level live.

Three ways to apply the signal
Direct connection: connect the supplied leads and crocodile clips straight to the conductor.
Clamp: clip an optional transmitting clamp around the cable, with no need to disconnect anything.
Inductive: the transmitter’s built-in antenna induces the signal into the service from above ground.
Active and passive modes
Active mode (with the transmitter) works at 8 kHz and 32 kHz.
Passive mode (detector only) picks up 50/60 Hz mains signals and radio signals from 2 to 65 kHz. This is useful for a quick survey when you can’t connect a transmitter.
Record and share your routes
The Sonel LKZ Mobile app logs your traced route with GPS waypoints and notes on each point. You can:
watch your position live
measure the distance to any waypoint
merge routes
review all recorded readings
export routes to other phones, including those of colleagues without an LKZ kit
